High School Question Online math courses
Do online math courses give more generous time to complete quizzes and tests compared to classroom math courses?

You asked and we answered - the 2026 admission acceptances/rejections form and sheet is now live!
Fill out this form with your stats: https://forms.gle/JBjAx65Sk2KhEbdx5
See results in the Google Sheets: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1x4YqRM344w_occH1OVuyci47V2ZY4Uz0NE4S6Ui70lQ/edit?usp=sharing
As suggested, we've included a transfer applicant section this year, so those interested in transfer later on will also have a resource to look at. Because of this new section addition, the Google Sheets is quite long. So to make it easier for viewing, I've separated each section with a bold black vertical line.
A couple ground rules to follow:
Please be as authentic and realistic as you can. If your response sounds very unreasonable and/or fake, it will be removed without warning.
Following rule #1, please maintain respect as you view other people's responses. Remember, these are sensitive info from individuals, so it is super important to just take them as a resource, and not as "competition". Any hurtful or rude comments will be removed.
If there's anything else you guys want us to add/edit, feel free to let us know! Happy viewing and good luck this year :)

Hi sub, recently I saw a bunch of posts about when ubc starts rolling decision.
I gathered information from acceptance/rejection spreadsheet last year to give you guy an idea of when ubc usually releases their admission decision.
Notes: this is not a serious statistics since there are a voluntary response bias and a few sampling data.
1. Early Round (November - December)
2. Regular Round (January - March)
3. Final Round & Rejections (April - May)

I already submitted my personal profile for ubc science
But my 5 extracurricular short descriptions gets flagged as 100% ai generated on the websites (mostly gptzero) i saw a similar post a year ago about the same exact situation but that person fortunately got in.
Should i be worried?? The 5 extracurricular descriptions are only 500 characters which is why it probably detects as ai since i used mostly straightforward and academic writing style.
Im freaking out

So basically I plan on getting around an 88 average (92 if you factor in the grade boost) in my first semester for grade 12 English and math which is fine, but my grade 11 average was a 70-75( before mark boost because I’m from Alberta) at the end of the year and I know that they’ll use my grade 11 marks as “placeholders” because my interim grades for social and science won’t be released until mid-late April due to being out of province which is obviously after the march 15th deadline. I know that I’d obviously get deferred to reg admission if I were to apply now but is it possible for me to submit my second semester interim marks after I get them in April or will they just reject me before then? If they see my grade 12 marks will they consider to defer me until they see my final marks in June/July whenever they are finalized? Should I say in my personal profile under extra information about my upward trend in my grades from 11-12 and why there’s such a difference? I’m trying to go into ubcv arts for context.

Hello! I was wondering if universities care if you have a hard course load in semester one? And if you need 6 academic courses? I’m dropping my first block chem. I would then have two free blocks, Entrepreneurship 12, Media Design 12 and yearbook 12 after school. Next semester I have English 12, CLE, Bio 12 and Law 12. I would still have yearbook in semester two and work experience 12. I will take an online academic course like philosophy? Thoughts?

Hi! I was wondering if I could get some input if I have the chance to get into ubc for a Bachelors of Arts. My worry right now is my grade in precalculus 12 which is a 74%. Precal12 isn’t a required class for the arts so is it still affecting my chances?

I'm kind of struggling on my personal profile since I don't have that good of extracurriculars, and I know ubc values it a lot. Any tips would be appreciated :)

Im in IB however we get a max 5 and min 3 in each subject based off Year 1, so I was told to use my inflated percentages to apply. main activities: I have 150+ hours volunteering, won major awards in sport (9 years, 3500+ hours), and worked 3 different jobs working with neurodivergent children.

My Extracurriculares are CEO of our school store (althought i dont know if that counts because its part of entrepreneurship 12), captain of the dragon boating team for 3 years and I've been on the team for 5 years, actor for mainstage (school play) for 5 years, I am the secretary for key club, and I went to Taiwan for 2 weeks to compete in an international dragon boat festival.
Im taking physics 12 right now and pre cal 12 next semester, but those two courses are my weak points and im scared that it will affect my core average. Im estimating an 86% on both classes 😭

I don’t know if this is showing up the same for anyone else, but I’m applying into UBC dental hygiene and the supplemental application (so the one only for dental hygiene) asks me to list my volunteer and work experiences. But EducationPlanner only has one button for each, which means I can only add one work experience and one volunteer experience. Is this like a “pick you best one” situation and the dental faculty will look at my personal profile for my other 5 listed ones, or is this an education planner problem. I emailed education planner but they just told me to email UBC, but idk if they’ll actually have an answer for me. Just wondering if it’s the same for anyone else or if you’ve applied in the past and it was like this/is supposed to be like this.

Hey, Im currently grade 12 of high school applying to uoft at the moment, planning to major in architecture. However, my core courses in humanities/english/art are pretty high (93-94%). But with this, I am doing very horribly in IB Math... I know IB Math wont account toward my top six since its not high enough to budge in, nor is a prerequisite to architecture at uoft.
Will a low grade (maybe a C or B) matter? do admissions even look at it? is it harmful in any way???
Thank you!!

Hi all, I know it's probably a very stressful time if you're in grade 11 or 12, so I'd just like to share some stats from when I was in your position last year!
I took partial ib, math aa hl and cs hl both predicted 7, ended up with 7 in math and 6 in CS. My top 6 average at the time of applying was probably around 98.7%. Submitted sat scores but I don't think it helped all too much, 690 English and 780 math. 52 on Euclid 😭 and got a 116 on the Fermat.
My ECs were pretty average, VP of robotics club, a theatre executive, worked 2 part time jobs, a tutor in a club, and some very basic volunteering.
Tbh I was very surprised at these decisions since I didn't do hackathons nor had any cs projects, and wrote my personal essays based around robotics competition and my affinity for creating. In the end I choose Waterloo CS.
But I think luck also plays a big role in university admissions, so best of luck to everyone out there!

Hey guys, im in gr 12 in Winnipeg and I’m planning to move out for uni next year.
I want to meet new people, reinvent myself, have lots of fun, party and be able to become independent.
I am applying to UBCv and Uvic, and I already submitted by app to uvic and im in the process of my personal profile for ubc.
@ uvic, sci my first, and social sciences my secon
@ubcv im debating whether to put applied bio or science as my #1, and will probably put arts as my backup
^ pls give me advice for this dillema
I will also probably apply to western health sci or sci.
i have a avg of around ~91%.
Wondering if uvic is a good choice for me, I want to be in a bigger city as well cause I love running.
ubc attracts me cause it’s in the mainland, and much bigger. Also seems like it may have a more diverse student body.
Opinions on ubc or uvic?
I would need residence for all 4 years, so I don’t know if one or the other is better for that. off campus residence sounds a pain, and I wouldn’t be able to connect with other students.
I have always dreamed of a bigger university for the experience, but I think a smaller one has pros too.
Would love some more uni reccomendations, and to hear ur comments.

The first essay is the hardest for me by far (Tell us about who you are). My admission is depending entirely on EC's because my grades are dogwater.
I just don't know how to structure the way they want and public examples seem too vague, so just help me with the partial content I think can be added to the final writing:
School demands a total of 380h of any internship program. For that I started a scientific initiation about applications of calculus 1, 2 and 3 in systems of control (initially general mechatronics but a controls professor helped me), and they accepted it as a form of internship. The thing is that even though it's pretty dope to learn calculus in highschool (I think some american and european do, but brazilians don't even finish pre-calculus in time), I completely hate applied maths and chose this subject solely because it had to have something with the course (which i regret a lot) to count. I'm looking forward to publish a scientific article about it, but I don't think it'll be out until november 15 (deadline for scholarships);
I started out very shy in 10th grade, but in many projects I was implicitly the leader, and mostly I would do everything, including research, recording, editing, script-writing, sending and give presentations. I know how bad it sounds that I wouldn't let my group do anything because then the total grade would be lower than with me doing everything, but there has to be a way to phrase it better. All of this includes class projets such as a general video or even editing related stuff the people asked me (Usually posters and posts for the class' instagram). Also, entered for class rep this year;
My school chooses 3 12th graders every year for a "talented students program", which my professor waited so I could specifically go to the interstate one. It's the most prestiged institution in Latin America in regards to employability and market-wise important ex-students. Now, I don't wanna lie, I just did it for the curriculum and so the entrance exam would be free (so I have an extra option for grad), but it doesn't have the course I want, it's just IN CASE;
I've been tutoring math for the 11th and 12th year for 2 years, there's more I can talk about it but I don't know if it's worth even putting it in the first question's answer;
I have some mechatronics projects: a RC car built from scratch, and a smart chessboard that shows what moves are valid with LEDs and some more stuff for new players to learn.
Done with ECs, I'll try to summarize my traits without taking the space that should be focused on the 2nd question:
I just didn't study in 11th grade (Didn't study after classes, pay attention to them, nor tried to get my grades up), but calculus was an interest that got me hooked up. Then some time after self-teaching I started to read literature (Currently reading Marcel Schwobs and Clarice Lispector), and now it takes big part of my time. I liked drawing since forever but never put effort into it (And can't now because no time), but I'm able to make realistic portraits out of an image alone. I'll heavily study structure and proportion if I get admitted. I developed many abilities in Adobe programs and Blender throughout high school, but there aren't projects I can talk about.
I'll apply for the BA and go for a Pure maths honours, avoiding applied sciences at any cost (including history, biology, geography, physics, chemistry, etcetera). I just want a north.
TLDR: Just tell me the structure of your "tell us about you" answer and why it's like that

When applying to university, if I take English Studies 12 instead of English First Peoples 12 does it gives you a better chance of getting admitted, or do universities not really care which one you take? I know for English 12 requirement for graduation, they both are the same.
Also, I saw someone make a similar post about whether taking too many courses online could affect your chances of admission. Is it valid to say I take online courses because they aren't offered at my school? I’m wondering about that too, since some of the courses I need aren’t offered at my school, so I’d have to take them online.

My eng 11/12 will be taken online for sure. And i am retaking pre cal 12 online. My physic 11 is also online. Im currently taking chem 12 in school, but the teacher is very "picky" on lab and written. Im just wondering if taking chem12 online would be a bad idea. ( both my bio12 and cal12 is on 2nd semester, so im not really worried about these two.)

Hello everyone!
I’m looking for scholarships and bursaries in BC/Vancouver to help fund my studies in Film Production. I am planning to attend Capilano University (BIPA / Motion Picture Arts) and would love any guidance on internal or external funding options I might be eligible for.
A bit about my background:
-Completed high school here in BC (Vancouver area).
-Applying for post-secondary studies in film/media production.
Does anyone have recommendations for:
CapU Entrance Awards / Bursaries: Any specific tips or deadlines for Capilano's Entrance Scholarships or First Term Bursaries? BC
Local Scholarships: Options like the BC District/Authority Scholarships (for Fine Arts / Applied Design) or BC Arts Council Scholarships?
Film-Specific & External Grants: Any local Vancouver arts organizations, film foundations, or community grants that support local media students?
Need help pls and thanku :D
