I can't believe it. I just received my 462 visa after 100 days of waiting!! Yes, on Saturday. It has been real tough last month, now I feel like I'm flying.

It's amazing how they've managed to kill most of my excitement and enthusiasm for coming to Australia. Day 98 now of unexpectedly doing long distance with my Aussie girlfriend while continuing to pay rent in Melbourne. Their complete lack of transparency is a master class in how not to handle... literally anything.

Just submitted a complaint. I'm not expecting it to do anything but I'd encourage everyone to do so as well- they need to know that this is unacceptable, especially when we've paid nearly $1,000 to have our applications processed.

9

u/Impressive_Cut3722 2d ago

And the beauty of opening up applications again while not approving the ones who were submitted more than 3 months ago.

The government trying to cash in from young people it’s absolutely insane and disgusting.

I’m tired of waiting, this approach of no communication, no commitment is so disappointing and disrespectful. Against all the Australian values.

Uk passport waiting since 13th july, girlfriend called from Aus today and was told they can’t guarantee it’ll be on the 90 day mark but it will be around that time. Sounds like the new 3 month cap is just an estimate

9

u/shsjkigkgjgbs 8d ago

Sounds like they’re making it up as they go along tbh, what an absolute mess

6

u/Careful-Till-5600 8d ago

Thanks for sharing - good to hear this given so much varying speculation flying around. I’m 12 July myself, getting there!

8

u/New-Bath3569 8d ago

I’d just hope ‘around that time’ means closer to 3 months than 4 :/

→ More replies (3)

4

u/nejizinh0 8d ago

the 3-month cap was just to shut people up during the speech

16

u/New-Bath3569 3d ago

This is getting out of hand now. Like many others I’m just about at the 3 month mark (applied 13th July, 1st 417 from the uk) I know others are waiting over 100 days, when are we going to hear back? They introduced the 3 month cap but still people will soon be closer to the 4 month mark than the 3rd. Losing hope at this point

6

u/Substantial_Bake5687 3d ago

I would also like to know if anyone with a UK passport has had a grant in the past 2 weeks for the first year? I’m on day 95 today from the UK and still nothing. I can’t tell if people just aren’t updating the feeds when they have theirs granted, which I totally get but would be great to know!

417 GRANTED THIS MORNING!!!
Applied on 8 July (first WHV, Italy). My girlfriend got her visa almost 3 weeks ago, and finally, the golden email has arrived for me too!
Good luck to everyone still waiting! See you out there 💪🏻

3

u/Tall_Commercial_4551 2d ago

What occupation are you?

4

u/Aggressive_Ice_2210 2d ago

Congrats, what field of work did you apply for? I have been waiting since the 7th July first WHV - UK. In hospitality

15

u/Aggressive_Ice_2210 1d ago

How long do you think it will be until the Aus government comes out and says something about this situation. They just need to be honest at this point, I have waited over 4 different waiting periods (been outside the timeframe) im on day 99 and the more they delay everyone the more backlog they are going to have as people are still applying for visas not aware of the ridiculous waiting times. Like I said a little bit of honesty could go a long way instead of sending a generic email to just wait. People have paid 100s of dollars for this so it seems crazy to me that they can’t just update everyone or even say such and such country are heavily backlogged so there will be a longer wait. As I’m from the UK I cant remember seeing a 417 grant who isnt in healthcare/ agriculture. No one knows if we are actually on pause or just heavily slowed down but some communication would be great.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share that my 417 1st year WHV has just been (almost) granted after waiting 96 days! It would’ve been fully granted, but I entered Australia as a tourist on an ETA while waiting because I had to, and so I just got the email today stating that I have 28 days to leave the country. They will then automatically grant my visa. Off to New Zeeland I go! Details of my process below:

Application date: July 4th (offshore)
Date entered Australia on ETA: 15th Sept
Passport country: Belgium
Complaints: one 5 weeks into waiting, clearly didn’t do anything

If you have any questions please ask!

4

u/Ingoldby_2026 7d ago

Ahh congrats!! I think you might be the first person I’ve come across who has been notified of a grant onshore so this is very encouraging! Do you know how long you have to leave for?

4

u/OVR_RVO 7d ago

Thank you! I called and they told me they check daily if the ppl who should leave have left yet or not. Officially they say don’t arrange to come back until you have the grant but I’m planning to go for 4 days considering what I’ve seen on here ppl getting them almost instantly after leaving

To people who have entered Aus on a Visitor visa and been notified to leave once the visa is ready to be granted:

How long did you have to wait outside of Aus for it it to be granted?

I've read that some received it even going past immigration at the airport, and others within a week. But with all the current changes, I am not counting on that.

Does anyone have a more up to date answer for this situation? Thanks

Hey everyone, are most British people getting approved right around the 90 day mark? I rang up immigration and they said although they couldn't guarantee the 90 days did apply to British people as well, are any British people currently over 90 days?

I applied July 7th and heard that a couple people from the UK where accepted on the 90 day mark. I’m also at the 3 month mark from when I applied now and still nothing has changed. Has anyone seen any UK grants recently. It has been such a frustrating process but keeping my fingers crossed that we all hear some positive news this month.

2 July - Applied

6 July - Did biometrics and medical checkup

12 July - Submitted all documents and moved to further assessment

Seems like the 3-month estimated timeline did end up being correct, at least in my case. Feel free to ask me any questions!

German passport

Applied 22 July, medical 3rd of August (83 days)

Said I'll be working in agriculture but no job offer, no complaint

I entered Australia on an eVisitor visa on the 12th of September and left for Bali on the 10th of October, estimating my WHV to be granted in the next 1-3 weeks, looks like I was right :)

I wish everyone good luck and safe travels!

Disappointed about this process…

When initially lodging my application on the 6th of July, I, like many others, looked at their approval calculator and said, ”ahh 90% in 75 days, worst case scenario I’m flying out late September“.

Here I am now at day 100 in mid October wondering wtf is going on at Home Affairs. I’ve tried to give them the benefit of the doubt here but for us not having anything from them after spending hundreds of dollars, re-arranging our lives, and doing all that they’ve asked of us is just unacceptable.

The smallest update like, “hey we’re working on it” or “our bad this has been tough we know” type of an email after 100 days would go sooo far. Even a complaint response took 1.5 months to get back and I confirmed the response I got was generic email sent out to everyone else smh…

Remaining optimistic but I’m slowly starting to feel like I paid 600$ for a silence & stress simulator

6

u/Ingoldby_2026 2d ago

It is absolutely shameful that every time you ring they just shift the goalposts and say to call back in another month?! Like…how long is this supposed to go on?

6

u/Anirbas_99 2d ago

I can understand! After more than 90 days of waiting i receveid to do the medical examination.. so now i don’t know how long more i will have to wait

u/LeavesOnTrees1 2d ago

I think that’s the most frustrating part - they haven’t been honest about processing times. I applied on the same day as you and there has been four different ‘estimated processing times’ since then, but each one turned out inaccurate. And that’s the only information we have to plan ahead with. They have every right to delay processing, but it would have been nice to be given an honest timeframe from the start.

United States
Applied July 11th!!
I received my visa without a “No Further Stay”
I’m so excited! Let me know if any questions!

I did call the department of home affairs and was on the phone with them for 20 minutes. They told me they were going to make a note in my account, and I received my visa the next day. Not sure if it helped or if it was going to happen anyways.

Officially on day 100 of waiting for my 462. I wanna kms. I feel like all my plans are falling apart. How are they not ashamed of doing this to people? They keep approving visas from late July and August when there is so many from July 2nd left. It’s so unfair and discouraging.

9

u/Superb-Health1933 6d ago

Totally! And it’s not like it’s free or we are asking a favor. We’re paying some money for that!!!!

7

u/AltF4_Bye 5d ago

Having to pay 600$ with no updates, no replies, or an accurate approval time line is wild to me. I get that they‘re slammed right now but communication goes a long way. I mean we‘re all planning our lives around this

13

u/sagifi 5d ago

Exactly! I know no one owes me a visa just because I paid. But, since the processing fee is so high and paid upfront, I feel like demanding at least transparency and an actually useful processing times tool is reasonable. The way things are going right now isn’t respectful to applicants, and shows no consideration for our time and money.

US whv granted!! Applied: July 26 Granted today, just a couple of hours ago.

Works out amazingly, since I am on a flight with an eta visa and still haven't landed in Australia so my whv applies when I land ^

6

u/Playingwithpower USA > 462 (applied) 6d ago

Congratulations. I've been stressing for months, hoping mine comes soon. I have an ETA as a back up. Also from USA, applied July 24th US time, July 25th Australian time. Still on received. All I want is to be with my boyfriend and escape this abusive household I am trapped in currently.

He's coming over October 20th to pick me up, we're seeing a movie on the 21st, then heading to Australia on October 27th... October 27th will be day 94 of waiting for me.

Anyone reading this, please pray for me that mine is approved on or before October 27th... I cannot stress enough how much mental anguish this is causing me and how severely it is affecting my (already very poor) mental health.

u/Ill_Equal7039 6d ago

Congrats!! I’m really hoping mine comes

417 Granted at 4am UK time 9th october. Applied 21st August. Working in agriculture, with a job waiting. Complained once, no calls, no medical.

3

u/Upper_Average3939 6d ago

Happy for you mate, but those of us who applied in July are still stuck on “received”. Apparently applying earlier just gets you a longer wait 😂 Would love to know how Home Affairs decides whose application to open next.

UK applied 11 July for a 417 WHV - Still on received

4

u/CashTheory 14d ago

I literally just finished my 88 days of specified work for my second WHV, applied onshore this morning, and my visa was granted instantly.

Obviously there’s still a lot of uncertainty around what’s going to happen with the proposed ballot changes, when they’ll actually come into effect, and how people already in Australia will be treated.

For anyone who has already completed their required work and is eligible to apply, my personal experience was that I applied as soon as I could and received the grant immediately. I’d definitely encourage people to apply as soon as they’re eligible rather than waiting around if they already have their required work days completed.

I’m still undecided whether I’ll do the 6 months of specified work for a third WHV. I’ll probably just play it by ear and see what happens with the rules over the next few months.

4

u/Lucky-Let1137 13d ago

Any 462 WHVs approved today? 👀

I am currently waiting on a WHV 417 being approved (applied 27th July from UK) - I have flights booked for 28th October and I am considering travelling anyway if the visa hasn’t been granted by then. Does anyone know if you leave the country for it to be approved is it granted instantly ? Or do you have to wait for an undisclosed amount of time for it to be approved ?

Hi everyone! I applied from the UK on 24 (UK time) and 25 (AUS time) July! Like pretty much everyone else here I am completely and utterly losing the will to live and looking for any silver lining!

Just wondering if anyone from the UK has received a grant in July who doesn’t work in healthcare/agriculture?

It seems like we’re completely on pause so please share any success stories to give us all some hope!! 🙏🙏

Sending hugs and luck to everyone out there!!!!

9

u/meatghetti_spagballs 3d ago

I did see a comment on Tik Tok from someone saying they had a friend who worked in immigration saying they were going to start approving early July visas in the next couple of weeks. Not the most reliable source but apparently they want to avoid a massive backlog of British applications. Could be total horseshit of course but who knows!

What countries are still waiting to start being granted/get answer for extra documents for 1st 462 after spots reopened 2nd July? Last week we could see Spain being granted massively, this week I can see Malaysia and Portugal... They are attacking it per countries It seems, so want to know the ones left/will be the next

Brazil is one waiting, no one since 2nd July yet, more than 100 people

Which other countries had no granteds?

Hey Guys!

I am in a local group with more than 150 Brazilians that applied in July 1st and none of us received our granted! It is a pretty unusual and sad situation! This led us to believe that there is something happening with the 462 specially for Brazilians. Some think that it will only be granted next year due to a high volume of Brazilians in Australia!

Anyone has news on Brazilians that applied with us and got a Granted? Do you guys know if there is an on going situation with Brazilian migration that caused this? If so, please let us know!

I am still hopeful that the visa will be granted in the next days due to the 3 months limit! Anyways, good luck everyone!

As everybody else in this sub, I’m also waiting for my visa 417 (Denmark) that I lodged 14th August - it is what it is, I’m just super confused as to why the hell they would announce faster processing times for first year, then have one day where they give a huge amounts of grants, to then just continue with the same processing speed as before. Anybody who has a qualified guess as to why?

6

u/NemeanLyan USA > 600 > 462 10d ago edited 10d ago

I genuinely suspect that they're timegating approvals (so that all or most visas processed within a given timeframe are released at exactly the same time) to give the impression that they have more staff working on it than they actually do. With the drip feed nature of approvals right now I genuinely wouldn't be surprised to learn if there's only one singular person assigned to WHV processing right now.

Either that, or they have some weird setup where like one person is processing them full-time and they occasionally have other staff hop on (like the Friday rush two weeks ago)

4

u/nejizinh0 10d ago

It doesn't make sense, mate
Some people from late july were being approved, and so many from early july still waiting

→ More replies (1)

3

u/sagifi 10d ago edited 10d ago

They said that because they want people to keep applying. They realized they can charge 840 dollars worth of “processing fee” upfront for every application even if they don’t actually bother processing them. That’s why they also opened most caps for 462 countries, money wasn’t coming in if the applications were paused.

6

u/Muted-Lawyer-5585 8d ago

I applied on the 3rd July it’s been 95 days!! Actual insanity, Malaysian passport. Should I complain again on the website or wait till the end of the month?
